Entertainers’ Kitchen.

That was the key phrase for a property that made me want to go and look at it. I love to cook. I love to cook for other people. I love having people over so I can cook them a meal.

An “Entertainers’ Kitchen” to me, would mean gas hotplates, wide oven, lashings of bench space, great storage, well designed pantry, good splash backs.

Not this:

sans bench

And then do not get me started on the “Master Bedroom”.

Generally, when you speak of master bedroom, you assume there will be room for two adults and a reasonably sized bed, perhaps even a side table. Not in today’s “spacious bedrooms”, oh no.

When measuring one room today, which was touted as “spacious with plenty of storage”, I was sad to find out that my definition of spacious and a real estate agents’ definition were meters, if not leagues, apart. 2.5metres X 3.2 metres. Is that spacious? How about a built in robe that only has half hanging rail space (too bad if you have dresses) and one shelf, no drawers. Our vacuum cleaner wouldn’t have fit in it.

The baclonies though, oh if you could live on a balcony. One had sweeping views over the CBD, so large you could have an outdoor setting for 8-10, a 6 burner BBQ and a little forest of potted plants and still have room for a lounger or two. Another was almost as large, with vast views across the burbs and the piazza, curvy and timbered and mostly in shade in the early afternoon until the sun swings around. Stunning.

But you cannot live on a balcony.

Please architects, make one room large enough for a queen size bed and bed side tables, with enough storage for the average girls clothing and shoe needs, room to hang a nice dress – and a kitchen you can use. One of the places I looked at today had no pantry. No. Pantry. And the sink was slightly SMALLER than a dinner plate. Yes, smaller. And no drainage board.

Ugh.

Like a Phoenix, Love it or Shove it has arisen from the ashes of pixelkitty.net.

When I say ashes, I really mean the tattered remains of a trashed database and many years of now lost posts – unless someone cares to find them in the WayBack Machine. I don’t.

From about now, LISI will contain rantings, ramblings and mostly uncensored, unrelated posts on everything I care to type about at the time.

The end.
