  • Jumbled Mess

    0

I hop on a plane to Sydney at 6am Monday morning to attend a week of geek software training. That means my weekend is being mostly spent making sure all my washing is done so that I have my favourite bras, knickers and jeans with me.

But who wants to spend an entire weekend on housework? Certianly not me!

The wonderful Brooke of WPWDs sent me a new wefted scalp that I’d asked for. I sent her this lovely mohair-type white wavey weft, and she nimbly sewed it to a CoolCat blank scalp. It’s arrived and looks SO fantastic, that it might not go onto the original victim’s bald head.

Instead I’m thinking of putting it onto my old custom Ashlette (photo below) and removing her original weft. The weft in the photo was my first ever attempt at customising with weft. I didn’t know at the time, but curly weft is the hardest to do, and not something a beginner should attempt! I loved the pink and silverish-white colour and style, but have always hated the amateurish mess I made.

So she gets some new hair, and at the same time I think she may just be getting some new eyes.

I commissioned the incredibly talented Ron Mac to create beautiful eyechip inserts for me. Ron has an Etsy store where she posts herwork from time to time, but I wanted something specific. After a couple of emails back and forth so that Ron was completely clear on what I was after, she created two pairs of eyechip inserts on acid free Moleskin paper. They should arrive in a week or so and I cannot wait!

Even without having seen the inserts in person yet, I am so happy to recommend Ron to anyone looking for one of a kind custom eyechip inserts for their Blythe doll. Ron is super friendly and super talented.

I probably won’t update while in Sydney, but I’ll try.

  • Australian Broadband – Oxymoron or Myth?

    0

The reason for no posts in the past little while, is that the bandwidth for my internet connection at home has been throttled.

Basically, living in Australia – broadband means you get really OK speeds (nothing like you get in Japan or North America) until you use your pitiful allotted quota of bandwidth for the month, and then you are slapped hard on the wrist with a wet wooden ruler and your internet speed is cut back to that of a 1992 modem.

You may think I joke, but I do not. I have been unable to view photos on Flickr, read my favourite websites or even simply watch a single YouTube video. It’s been a LOLcat free zone and for that reason alone I hate how Broadband is metered out here in Australia.

I actually have spent the time a little productively. I have around 100 photos to upload to flickr, not all Blythe related (mostly cars actually), a new website design for a client to go live and a new design in the works for here, as promised.

This site will commence to be mirrored at Pixelkitty.net as well, because it’s the longest running domain name I’ve ever owned, and I feel I’m neglecting it.

Check back next week for updates, photos and pretty colours.
