    Love Mission Custom Blythe

I’ve been acquiring quite a few new dolls and other items lately. Even though I meant to go on a bit of a spending diet, it seems that dolls, like food, are things I just enjoy too much.

Along with the vintage black Barbie Vespa from a second hand store, I managed to pick up a NRFB Love Mission from my favourite Japan seller.

Adding to the Sunshine Holiday, Ashlettina and Merry Skier I picked up earlier last month. Oops!

  • Jumbled Mess

I hop on a plane to Sydney at 6am Monday morning to attend a week of geek software training. That means my weekend is being mostly spent making sure all my washing is done so that I have my favourite bras, knickers and jeans with me.

But who wants to spend an entire weekend on housework? Certianly not me!

The wonderful Brooke of WPWDs sent me a new wefted scalp that I’d asked for. I sent her this lovely mohair-type white wavey weft, and she nimbly sewed it to a CoolCat blank scalp. It’s arrived and looks SO fantastic, that it might not go onto the original victim’s bald head.

Instead I’m thinking of putting it onto my old custom Ashlette (photo below) and removing her original weft. The weft in the photo was my first ever attempt at customising with weft. I didn’t know at the time, but curly weft is the hardest to do, and not something a beginner should attempt! I loved the pink and silverish-white colour and style, but have always hated the amateurish mess I made.

So she gets some new hair, and at the same time I think she may just be getting some new eyes.

I commissioned the incredibly talented Ron Mac to create beautiful eyechip inserts for me. Ron has an Etsy store where she posts herwork from time to time, but I wanted something specific. After a couple of emails back and forth so that Ron was completely clear on what I was after, she created two pairs of eyechip inserts on acid free Moleskin paper. They should arrive in a week or so and I cannot wait!

Even without having seen the inserts in person yet, I am so happy to recommend Ron to anyone looking for one of a kind custom eyechip inserts for their Blythe doll. Ron is super friendly and super talented.

I probably won’t update while in Sydney, but I’ll try.

The Takara/Tomy/CWC/Junie Moon/Yatterman Movie collaboration NEO Blythe stole my heart the moment I saw the promotion drawings.

This Blythe was available exclusively in Japan, and is a very limited run. I despaired of ever being able to afford her.

I first posted about her here: Blythe Doronjo

Then I landed this contract, and with my very first paypacket I set aside an obscene amount of money to buy her. I could have got a Kenner for the same amount. But she’s worth it.

Introducing Miss Donnie – certainly the fairest of them all.

  • Custom Blythe Neo – Salt

For over a year now, I’ve been working on my latest Custom. Unlike previous customs, she was not a commission, and a vision I’d had since seeing the larger bust-type Obitsu body attached to a Blythe head.

I bought the platinum and black saran and sent the scalp and saran to MissC to reroot for me. I swapped her a custom-bait Blythe in return for the work.

When the scalp came back, I realised I’d made a mistake when I asked MissC to do a slightly off-centre part. It wasn’t until I put the scalp with the face-up I’d only just completed that I should have asked for a fringe (bangs for the Americans reading).

Out came the scissors, and as cutting hair is not my strong suite, I kind of munged her fringe. So I decided to change her face a little, and added darker eyeliner.

Last week, Stella did me a HUGE favour and used her account to order me some Pure Neemo Advance bodies. I wanted an F Type (larger bust) for this custom, and also ordered an additional F Bust, two standard Standing type and an alternate sitting type, plus some extra hands.

Now that the new girl has her body, she’s looking rather cheeky. Odd socks will be her trademark, I think.

So, without further waffling, introducing Salt:
